A muted outcry of 2000 Pakistani students stuck in Wuhan

By Sher Jan Shohaz Rind

The world witnesses several disasters ruining and affecting the lives on the earth since the creation of the universe. The disasters undoubtedly at the initial stages since they are unknown and yet to be vaccinated, experience healthy performances to turn the world devastative and rich in affections. This is extensively known fact that a strange disease at the time of welcome causes traumas and crunches to the people where it meets happening. After a brisk experience of the negative outcomes of the disease, there always comes an elucidation to triumph over the affection of the disease.
I have myself been a witness to the sufferings of the people around me since measles; a disease that causes a fever and red spots on the skin, affected them. Knowing much about Measles had hardly been expected after few days of its affections. Everything is strange is affective and horrendous unless it’s familiarized.

Today, China due to Novel Coronavirus which has newly been identified, is suffocating. Wuhan; a majority affected city of the China where the virus welcomed its stress on the citizens, has been sealed off to overcome the spread of the virus to other parts the country and the world. Undoubtedly, China is experiencing the deadliest page of her dairy where the vaccine of the following lethal virus is yet to be introduced and made. But, it encourages the world to watch China with her people working day and night to weaken the strength of virus.

Over and above, Wuhan city hosts a number of foreign students studying there. After virus welcomed the world’s scrutiny, concerns and solicitude of the countries heightened to evacuate their students stuck virus-stricken city. Evidently, India, Sri Lanka, Magnolia, Bangladesh and many more countries have evacuated their students from Wuhan. According to the statistics, number of Pakistani students stuck there is approximately 2000.The following students per diem express their intensification of their mental disturbance and request for evacuation.

One of my close friends and village-mate has been encountered by the emergent sealed off of Wuhan in China. Rehan Rasheed; a final year student of MBBS at Medical college of Hebei University of Engineering and local of Turbat, Balochistan, along some other friends are suffering from the indoor silence and the risk of virus. Rehan claims that they have been locked down in a room and strictly asked to not visit outdoor. “We were many students here but once daily they were evacuated and taken back to their countries. We all Pakistani students are left at the risk of the virus.”Rehan further added that they have made requests to assure safety from Pakatan Embassy, but harsh behaviours of them were tough to face. “The response from Embassy was quite pessimistic and left us under depression” says Rehan.

If Pakistan in these hours avoid herself to help her own citizens, how the strong relationships with non-citizens can she make and prove herself a helping hand? The state’s positive step keeping the country safe from the risk of virus is never appreciated until the youngsters of our country are not evacuated.

On 3 February, Zafar Mirza; State Minister of Health of Pakistan, cooking the cries raised by the students stuck in Wuhan, posted a video tweet where two boys assured safety of Pakistani students from virus in China. On the hand, the rest of others keep beseeching for exigent evacuation from the Government of Pakistan. Unfortunately, the state so far seems poor in attention feed the cries of these poor students who due to the absence of proper educational image sought scholarships.

The media and officials pronounce the risk of coronovirus alarming when bringing the students from Wuhan whereas other countries didn’t face themselves counting fingers to evacuate their students.
As it’s widely reported that China has introduced screening test at all airline transportations. After screening at the airport, negative resulted students of the virus are undoubtedly allowed to use transportation modes. Even, people coming from China are once more screened and kept for few days isolated in order to experience the symptoms and signs of the virus. If results become courageous and fearless then going homes to the comers is simple to welcome.

Now, the question arises is that if we have this prolonged and clear process of safety running, then why evacuating our students from Wuhan to our government is venturesome yet? If India and Bangladesh; closest neighbors of Pakistan, afford the evacuation of their students then why can’t we? Are we less safe and facilitated than them? Or are we waiting to be reported about their affection?

Consequently, the state’s frequent wait expecting China to overcome with the virus is a great contingency chasing affections. It’s a gambling game that Pakistan is playing with the situation which is to the world one of the worst experiences it’s ever witnessed. The state must stop expecting much from China and her current situations regarding virus. Pakistan should provide emergent calls to the stuck students in Wuhan.
