The PTI government took control in 2018. PM Imran Khan promised change and change he has delivered repeatedly. The PTI government had presented its first full year budget 2019-20 in parliament. The last year’s budget was prepared by the previous government and PTI just made minor changes after taking control.
Although, it cannot be denied that the government met the harshest criticism during this time, but there are some developments which have improved situation. Ehsaas Program, Kamyab Jawan Program, Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme, Model Langer Khana, Shelter Homes, Billion Tree Tsunami Projects, Clean Green Pakistan Index, Better Foreign Policy, Tex Collection, Circular Debt, Kartarpur Corridor are major achievements of PTI government in development sectors.
The PTI government also has approved 11 projects since coming to power. 11 national level projects relating to water, energy and communication have been approved by the ECNEC which located in one province but will benefit the whole country. In energy division, Sindh Solar energy project with a cost of Rs 12445.73 million while Evaluation of power from Suki Kinari Kohala and Mahil HPP in northern areas with a cost of Rs 79929.73 has been approved.
Dargai Hydro Electric Power Station worth Rs 4050.364 has also been accepted. Diamer Bhasha dam project with cost of Rs 5686 million, and Balochistan Water Resource Development has also been granted. Government of KP projects, Peshawar Sustainable Bus Rapid Transit corridor project of Rs 66,437 million and Dualization of Mardan-Swabi road, worth Rs 9,550 million has been approved. Land acquisition for dualization of Khuchlac- Zhob section, amounting Rs 3232 and construction of Khuchlac- Zhob section has been granted. A $986.29 million emergency plan for polio eradication has also been accepted. The Punjab Police Integrated Command Center Lahore has also been sanctioned with the worth of Rs 17520.408.
Poverty allegation is the primary target for PTI government.In the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, a relief package of Rs144 billion was approved to provide immediate cash relief of 12,000 to 12000 million poor families. As per Economic Survey, during July 2020, PBM has disbursed an amount of Rs 2.705 billion through its core projects.With the Pandemic Covid-19, the government’s efforts to bring the economy back on track which were damaged during lockdown. All industries and businesses were impacted.
Moreover “Digital Pakistan” is also a development program keeping in view as a good step to play role in economic growth, job creation, financial inclusion, reducing the income divide and building the knowledge economy. The vision of Minister Imran Khan is to improve public service delivery through e-governance initiatives. An amount of Rs 1 billion has been allocated for implementation of this project.
In conclusion, we can say that PTI government is trying to clear the crisis gathered over last thirty years and want to put country on right track. All this and other steps by Federal Government under the leadership of PM Imran Khan are helpful for Pakistan.
