Facebook Innovation Lab in Pakistan

First Facebook innovation lab launched at Lahore University of Management and Science (LUMS) on Wednesday.

“We have seen a lot potential in Asia pacific and we want to see more success stories” said by Facebook Program manager.

LAHORE: (April 4, 2019): Pakistan first innovation lab launched by Facebook and Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology & Telecom as well as the National Technology Fund (IGNITE). Ceremony held in National Incubation Center (NIC) at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on Wednesday. Ceremony attended by technocrats and policy makers.

Lab will provide learning platform and facilitate developers, entrepreneurs and community group to connect with coaches, mentor to learn about new technologies.

said by Facebook Program manager. Jason line said that

Facebook aim to provide the best experience startup word wide. Our strong belief is that the future of technology is within the community.

“Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence are rapidly expanding and will be major sectors of the future. Ignites’ partnership with Facebook, one of the world’s leading AR/VR development platform, will help launch this crucial 4IR technology in Pakistan in a big way” said by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ignite Yusuf Hussain  while attending the launching ceremony.

Founder and CEO of Vanilla Arcade Saadan Ahmed elaborates,

AR/VR has allowed us to connect the youth of Pakistan to experience the culture and history of their country in the most immersive way possible. It is the future of storytelling and education.

“Innovation is the backbone of cutting edge research and quality teaching at LUMS. Facebook Innovation Lab Pakistan provides leverage to our core offerings and enables us to achieve another level of training and mentor-ship – it promises to create social capital among young entrepreneurs that will drive their ideas with no boundaries” said by LUMS Vice Chancellor, Dr. Arshad Ahmad.

Facebook product designer Maheen Sohail said,

Virtual reality and augmented reality is the future.

This is a great step toward digital world this innovation lab will enable Pakistani people to develop their creativity and skills.
