Lahore: (Monday, May 4, 2019)
Increasing the speed of internet, more than 150 Access Points will be installed in 07 Major Buildings of Lahore College Women University (LCWU) with full access to Wi-Fi blanket in addition to old 40 Ap’s under the project initiated with Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Internet Bandwidth of the University will also be increased which will further improve the access and speed of internet in the University.
The newly constructed building of social sciences and all hostels will also be facilitated in the project. Currently all equipment have landed in the university with zero cost. HEC will reimburse per AP 20$ to be paid in PERN bill for next 5 years (Including warranty, maintenance & up-gradation). IT Dept have started deploying The Smart University Project in LCWU under the agreement with HEC.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Bushra Mirza says that the project aims to equip university campus with blanket Wi-Fi coverage, to enable the deployment of other smart instruments as needed. The project will facilitate LMS,Online Course Directory, Online Examination and university portals as well.
The project has provided a suite of important services to thousands of students and faculty members. We are also looking forward to our Jhang campus to be active and operational as its paper working and survey has also been started, she added.
Vice-Chancellor appreciated the IT dept Team working tirelessly daily in these days of Covid 19 to install the system and finishes the project timely under the supervision of Taimur salam focal person for the project.
The focal person for the project Mr Taimur Salam, System Administrator/ In-charge Network Operations, says “by this project Wi-Fi Coverage will be enhanced with more high speed controlled internet to all students, faculty and staff in the campus. Moreover, the newly installed equipment will serve the university for the next 5-7 years. We are working nonstop to complete the installation as soon as possible. It could have been possible under the kind guidance and vision of Prof Dr Bushra Mirza Vice-Chancellor LCWU
