How to be Good With Online calsses

By Usama Junaid Khan

First of all, the question rises what are online classes and how do they help us? Here is the answer,

An online class is a course conducted over the internet. Online classes are generally self paced, allowing for greater flexibility in completing coursework. In many ways, online classes are like traditional classes. The courses offered online and on campus are the same, and cover the same material. They both have the same or similar assignments and strict deadlines. They both require additional hours of studying in addition to online classes.
It seems everything is moving online these days. Even our education is transferring onto the internet. And I want to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this phenomena. As this is a pertinent topic, as the future of education is moving more and more towards shifting physical educational institutions online.
Advantages and disadvantages of taking online classes
These type of questions are faced by students deciding to take online classes. Often students work full or part time jobs while going to college so their time is valuable. These students want to make the right decisions in choosing classes so knowing the advantages and disadvantages is important. Here are the advantages of online classes:
• Online classes give flexibility. A student can usually take the course any time during the day or week. While there are custom essay writing and researching assignments to complete, the precise time to take the class often depends on the students desire. Students who work are able to take the class based on their schedules. Many students work on their course during the middle of night or early in the morning.
• Another advantage of online class is that almost any type of course can be found online. Distance learning courses are often available from a number of colleges. A person can simply use the Google to find a class.
• Many online courses offer a greater access to faculty. Shy students are able to ask questions because they can ask them online without facing the instructor. The internet makes it possible for the student to ask questions and receive the answer back almost immediately.
• The cost of getting an online education is cheaper on average than receiving a traditional education. According to the Open Education Database, “Though not all online degrees offer less expensive net tuition prices than traditional colleges, associated expenses almost always cost less. For example, there are no commuting costs, and sometimes required course materials, such as textbooks, are available online at no cost.
• Receiving an online education is becoming more and more popular due to a multitude of advantages it has over traditional instruction.
• Countless students choose online education in order to avoid wasting time travelling and on many other activities in order to attend physical education institutions.
• Students listen to lectures and complete assignments sent to them electronically, with no need to fight traffic, leave work early for class, or miss important family time. Rather they miss important class sessions due to weather conditions.
• In addition, many employers are happy to see online courses on resumes. Many recruiters see the taking of online course as a sign of taking initiative. As stated by Pongo Resume, “ Employers respect a degree earned online as much as a degree earned from attending a brick-and-mortar school.
• In addition, people who want to take a longer time to receive a degree can do so without any pressure.
Disadvantages of online classes
While online courses have advantages, they also have disadvantages.
• One of the disadvantage is sometimes online courses are more expensive than regular classes. Is it worth the cost to take the class? This is an individual question that often depends on the student taking the class.
• Another disadvantage of online classes is the complete supervision. If a person is not motivated to finish what they start, then it is probably not a good idea to take online class. While there may be deadlines and expectations from the online course instructor, there is no one there to remind him/her to do assignments or to take the tests.
• A student who does not have internet skills cannot expect to do well with an online course. A student taking online course must have access to a computer.
• The students cannot have access to a faculty member. They cannot ask questions properly because of no face to face interaction.
• Another disadvantage of taking an online course is found in students who have the tendency to procrastinate.
• There is no self discipline.
• Another important disadvantage is lack of input from trainers.
• There is lack of transformational power and slow evolution.
Now, last but not least an important question rises here, Can technology replace a teacher?
Technology cannot replace a teacher. Technology is merely an augmentation to a teacher. It can help the process of learning, but it certainly cannot replace the role of the teacher. Students still need to learn computers to operate those online sessions, which of course are taught by teachers.
