4,000 kids visiting KinderUni Ilmenau

Four thousand school children are participating in Kinderuni Ilmenau program this year including 110 schools from Thuringia, Bavaria and Hessen (states of Germany) visiting Technical University Ilmenau for six days November 9,11,16,18,23 and 25 2016.
There are 640 kids visits TU Ilmenau per day, Head Volunteer Chief of the program told The Educationist.
Mrs Madeleine said this program works all over Germany since many years but they started it in April 2004. She “There are lot of kinder universities in Germany and this program is incredible for schoolchildren aged 8 to 12 every year in November. This exciting program starts with lectures and university professors gave lectures to kids on different topics and for this purpose we took services of two professors per day.”
Head of Communications Amin Bijjou said there are eight volunteers who organize this exciting event every year. “Children visits the university and we form different groups and every group head guide them about departments and studies.” While replying to a question regarding funding of the project, he said nobody give us money, but materials in the form of sponsors and of course Technical University Ilmenau provide facilities and funds to execute this event.
Dr. Ing. Ralf Sommer, Department of Electronic Circuits and Systems at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology TU Ilmenau and Prof. Dr. Wolf-Michael Scheid were among the speakers this year. Prof. Sommer delivered a lecture about science, numbers, music and use of smart phone technology in this era. While Prof Schied delivered a lecture about factory planning and internal picking in pharmacy industry in modern age.
While talking to The Educationist participants said, “it’s awesome to visit TU Ilmenau and we are learning and having fun with this event.” They said it was an exciting and nice day for them.
