LAHORE (October 30,2018):Measles Vaccination Campaign which was launched on 15th October in the Province has been completed successfully on 29th Oct. during that about 21 million children have been inoculated which is 10 percent extra coverage of the set target of 19.8 million. Political Commitment and ownership from the high-ups and hardworking of all the stakeholders especially teams of skilled workers materialized this success.
This was stated by the Director General Health Services Punjab Dr. Munir Ahmad in a statement issued on the conclusion of anti measles campaign. He thanked the district administrations of all the districts, CEOs Health, International development partners including UNICEF, WHO and GAVI for providing full support to the Health department for the campaign. DG Health further said that measles vaccination campaign was extended for two days i.e. 28 and 29 Oct. He said that one lakh officials participated in approximately 16 thousand teams which were constituted for the vaccination of the children. Dr. Munir Ahamad lauded the efforts of vaccinating teams, doctors, LHWs and other staff who participated in this noble cause. DG Health also appreciated and thanked the services and cooperation extended by the political figures, religious scholars, Imams of Mosques especially role of media in creating awareness among the masses. Dr. Munir said that civil society and parents also extended exemplary cooperation for the campaign. Collective efforts of all the stakeholders achieved a difficult target. The mass vaccination campaign will help eradicate the measles from our province and the country, the DG Health concluded.
