It is a story about a teacher Devika (Sri Devi), who is a step-mother to Arya (Sajal Ali) and a wife to Anand (Adnan SIddiqui). The relationship between the Arya and Devika is complicated as Arya does not accept her as her mom and calls her ma’am as she is also her student is the same institute where Devika is teaching.

Arya goes to a Valentine’s party in which her class fellow Mohit Dewaan, his brother Charles Dewaan, a drug dealer Jagan and watchman Babu, kidnap her from the party and rapes her in the car and attempts to kill her and dump her in the drain on a road. The culprits were released as no evidence was found against them.

With the help of a detective DK (Nawazudin Siddiqui) she asks for the information about the culprits and starts off with Babu, she cuts off his genitals and he slips off in the bathroom due to the shock. She then poisons Charles Dewaan and plant it on his brother Mohit. Charles was died and Mohit was arrested for a murder case. The last one was also dealt with the support of the cop (Akshay Khanna).

Breaking the stereotypes

From the animated movies Cinderella, Snow White and most of the Disney princess movies, to the dramas and other movies, we are shown a very cruel side of step-mother. Creation like these have spread among the youth, a stereotype that step-mothers are meant to be cruel always, however this movie breaks this stereotype as the step-mother in it steps beyond the limitations and kills the culprits of her innocent girl.

All we see ever in this particular case is that the mother’s behavior is reckless and rude. In this we see a true reflection of a mother who loves her step-daughter dearly and understands her even though Arya behaves rudely with her. Times of India writes,

Mothers are a symbol of strength; this movie further reinforces that

The actors have no doubt have done their best in the movie and this movie received awards and have been rated 4.5 stars on IMDb.
