PRIYANKA CAMPAIGNS REFUGEE EDUCATION IN ETHIOPIA

ASSOSA, ETHIOPIA: (May 21, 2019): Following the trend set by Angelina Julie,  Indian native Bollywood cum Hollywood star Priyanka Chopra, who is also UNICEF goodwill ambassador, is campaign for refugee children education here.  

“If we don’t care about these children, I feel that they will be extremely vulnerable to extremism and violence,” she remarked while talking to Associated Press. She said that the Bambusi camp’s primary school director, Yetinayet Girma, told her that they needed teachers, classrooms and textbooks for more than 6,000 refugee students.

According to UNICEF, there are 906,000 registered refugees and asylum seekers in Ethiopia, who are mostly, belong to South Sudan, Eritrea and Somalia.

Priyanka said since Ethiopia was not well established country, the world must contribute to refugee children’s welfare.
