Protest of Punjab teachers at Faisal Chowk

LAHORE: As the sit-in protest of teachers including Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA) from all over the Punjab continued for the second day, the ministers of PTI remained absent from the scene.

The demand of the protesters is a five-tier service structure, pay protection and scale up-gradation on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) mode.

PPLA General Secretary Shafiq Butt that the reason of the protest is that the Education Minister Raja Humayun Sarfaraz told the teachers that he will meet their demands and will have an upgrade but it was not done and neither were granted promotions.

The protesters say,

The government must negotiate with us and issue a proper notification for the acceptance of our demands and the process of implementing them.

Minister for School Education Murad Raas was out of the country. Education Minister Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfraz, Information Minister Syed Samsam Ali Bukhari and Secretary Education Ahad Khan Cheema didn’t pick their phone. There has been no response from the authorities.
