BNU: Syed Noor hails flourishing of film schools

LAHORE: The Department of Theatre, Film and Television (TFT) under School of Media and Communication (SMC) at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) organized the launch ceremony of BNU TV & Film Society (BTFS).
Esteemed guests from the world of film and television graced the occasion. Present at the launch were veteran Pakistani film director and producer, Syed Noor, who has recently received Lifetime Achievement Award at Lux Style Awards, TV Director Mr. AyubKhawar of NelaamGhar and Zia Muhyuddin show fame, internationally acclaimed actor Mr. Salman Shahid, and actor, producer, director Ali Tahir of Teen Bata Teen.
Syed Noor and Mr. AyubKhawar appreciated the efforts of Department of Theatre, Film and TVat BNU for providing students with a platform to nourish their talent and skills in the fields of television and film. Speaking at the ceremony Syed Noor said, “The youth of today is much fortunate than us since they have institutions like BNU to hone their innate creative talents. In our times we did not have such privileges”.
Mr. Ali Tahir stressed on utilization of young creative minds for the progress of the Film industry in Pakistan to support the flourishing of indigenous productions rather depending on overseas onslaught on Pakistani culture.
Also present were Vice Chancellor BNU, Mr. Shahid Hafiz Kardar, Dean SMC, Dr. Taimur-ul-Hassan, Head of Department TFT, Mr. UroojSamdani besides faculty, staff and students of BNU.
BTFS will extend its platform to open opportunities for creative expression and experimentation beyond BNU and encourage students from different institutions in Lahore to come forward with their ideas and transform them into executable productions.
The event concluded with Vice Chancellor presenting mementos to the esteemed guests who graced the occasion with their presence. Members of BTFS and other co-curricular societies entertained guests and audience with their musical performances.
