MINSK: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who has been already awarded an honorary PhD degree by Govt College University Lahore, recently got the title of ‘Professor’ at the prestigious Belarusian State University. The event was attended by the faculty, academicians and students.
Rector Sergey V Ablameyko said that the title of the honourary professor was being conferred on the prime minister in recognition of his services for upholding democracy and for bringing Pakistan and Belarus closer.
In a talk delivered to the students after Rector donned him with a gown and conferred on him the title of honouray professor, Nawaz Sharif said his government was focusing on development of educational institutions. “Our Vision 2025 emphasises a knowledge-based economy,” he said and shared with the students that his government was doubling its budgetary allocation for education. “We remain committed to increase it further to reach four per cent of GDP. Let’s see how Prof Dr Nawaz honours his commitment to the education!
Minister of Information Pervaiz Rashid, Minister for Commerce Khurrum Dastgir and Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi were among the guests present at the event. -APP
