FC College convocation: 667 students conferred degrees

LAHORE: As many as 667 students graduated in various disciplines from Forman Christian College, during a convocation ceremony held recently. There were a total of 589 Baccalaureate and 78 masters and MPhil graduates. The graduate valedictory speech was given byRabia Anjum, who had a CGPA of 3.96. Yasra Naseer, an MPhil graduate, gave the postgraduate valedictory address.
In addition, 25 medals were awarded to students for achievements in their respective disciplines in the Baccalaureate program and 16 Certificates of Distinction were awarded to top postgraduate students. Twelve students were awarded Outstanding Student Awards for performance in co-curricular activities.
Punjab Governor Malik RafiqueRajwana congratulated the graduating students and their parents. He added that he was a strong believer that the graduating students would give back to the society and the nation. He said that in addition to expertise in their respective fields, education was needed for becoming good human beings and helping the people in need. “This is what a university should also be teaching,” he said, “and this is what Pakistan needs.”
In his commencement address, the FCC Rector Dr James A Tebbe said that it was a proud moment for the university to have a Formanite as the Governor of Punjab. He also showed great gratitude towards the government of Punjab for their continued support towards FCC. He congratulated the graduating class of 2015 and said that they had all worked very hard to get to this day. Dr Tebbe also added that FCC has provided its graduates a wholesome experience to study and work with students from various backgrounds, religions and casts. Also present were the Chairman Punjab Higher Education, Mohammad Nazammuddin, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr Joseph Jones, Vice Rector Intermediate Prof C J Dubash, and Registrar and Director Commencement Dr Hamid Saeed.
CEO Media Times, SheharyarTaseer, said he will be joining hands with FCC for future collaborations.
Mohammad Adil Arshad, Assistant Professor of the Education Department, was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award; Kamil Shamshad, Manager Financial Aid was awarded the Outstanding Customer Service Award, Sunil Chohan was awarded Customer Service Award during the ceremony.
