LAHORE: August 1st, 2018: After a holiday period of two and a half months, the schools of Sindh have reopened today on Wednesday. The Sindh schools observed summer vacations from May 14 to July 31.
Earlier, the government of Sindh had announced the commencement of holidays from June 1 to July 31. However, the dates were changed to May 14 to July 16 due to scorching heat waves in the province. On request of Education Secretary of Sindh Alia Shahid, this time period was extended by the caretaker chief minister Fazlur Rehman to July 31 as the general elections were going to be conducted on July 25 and the teachers were supposed to perform duties assigned by the government. Now that the elections have successfully been held therefore, the students have started going to school again.
The temperature recorded in the capital of Sindh was 31°C on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. It does not seem to be very high but the humidity level in the city was 62% which is quite suffocating. No change in weather conditions was expected in coming two weeks according to weather forecast.
It has also been decided that the students shall be celebrating the Independence Day on 14th August in schools with full enthusiasm and fervor according to reliable sources.
