LAHORE (Monday, April 4, 2017): The 7th convocation of the University of Lahore held on Tuesday to award degree to 4,824 graduates including three PhDs, 851 postgraduates, 1189 masters and 2,781 bachelors.
Punjab Minister for Higher Education Raza Ali Gilani was the chief guest, while teachers, parents, UOL Board of Governor Chairman Awais Raoof, MA Raoof (Patron IET), Vice Chancellor Dr MH Qazi and Brigadier (r) Ajaib (Member BoG) were also present.
Raza Ali Gilani said that the government was not only promoting education in the private sector but also making partnership to support various activities. Raza Ali Gilani said, “we are proud to be Muslims and Pakistanis. World cannot compete with our microsoft expert child of 8 years. If we will follow the Quran we will rule the whole world. Today world is afraid of our progress.”
The minister said that according to the World Global Forum report Pakistan economy improved 8 levels as compared to India. He urged the student to go abroad, study there but come back to service their country. Gilani said that overseas Pakistanis would come back after the next 5 years.
Speaking on the occasion, Awais Raoof termed UOL students brand ambassador’s of the university, reflecting the cultural academic and intellectual heritage of the UOL not only in Pakistan but all over the world. The BOG chairman mentioned successful range of various conferences recently held at the university on the themes of health sciences, allied health sciences and engineering and technology.
Present among others were Punjab Minister of Higher Education Raza Ali Gillani, MNAs Sheikh Ria, Muhammad Afzal and Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, and MPA Malik Iqbal. Later, the chief guest gave away degrees, prizes and medals to students.
Besides, UOL Registrar Kamran Elahi, Controller Examination Asim Ali, deans, directors, students, parents, teachers and faculty members also attended the ceremony.
