WORKSHOP ON COMMERCIALIZATION OF TECHNOLOGY HELD AT MA JINNAH UNIVERSITY

Karachi (Staff Report): Office of the Research, Innovation & Commercialization, (ORIC) Mohammad Ali Jinnah University,(MAJU) Karachi conducted a workshop on “ Commercialization of Technology” for faculty members last evening at University campus. Adjunct-Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering of City University, New York, USA, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Awal was the guest speaker on this occasion.

Those who attended the workshop were included President, MAJU Prof.Dr. Zubair Shaikh, Director, ORIC Dr. Kashif Ishaque, Director, Academics, Dr. Imran Jami, heads of departments, Dr, Ghazanfer Munir, Dr. Shoukat Wasi, Dr. Hajji Khan Comoro, Dr. Shafiq Ur Rehman, Dr. S.M. Norman Shah, Asif Naji and other senior faculty members.

Addressing to the workshop Dr. M. Abdul Awal said that Management of Technology and innovation is most important for successfully bringing technology from the academia and industrial R & D to the market in the form of competitive new products and services. He asked that formulation of National Technology policy conducive to technology transfer besides role of concurrent engineering in the New Product Initiative. (NPI) He told that Economic Modeling of Technology, Cost of Engineering Studies and Competitive analysis of the Commercialization of Technology (CoT) and use decision modeling analysis is vital if the industry decide to develop a technology into marketable product –Services.

Earlier, Director, ORIC, MAJU Dr. Kashif Ishaque welcomed the guest speaker Dr. M.Abdul Awal. He told that Dr. Awal has over twenty years of experience at AT & T Bell Laboratories in New York, USA.
