The generation gap is the difference of opinions between one generation and another regarding beliefs. Sociologists have divided the lifespan into three different levels: Childhood, Midlife and Retirement. The difference of thoughts in the ideology of these groups had always been there, no two generations share the same set of cultural & moral values. Life style, technology and innovations in science during the last 3 decades have transformed the outlook of life. As the life style changes, attitude and values also undergo a huge transformation. Change in attitude has resulted direct confrontation between parents and children. The younger generation has acquired a different set of values and they want to implement it on their elders. On the other hand, kids are heading towards the modern technological track that includes use of gadgets like mobile phones, laptops and internet which exposes children to all the desirable and undesirable information to children which is good in some cases but bad in other. Most of the children are searching solutions to their problems on internet but in some cases wrong information is also exposed to children which leads to negativity. I believe this generation gap can be resolved if the parents talk openly to their children especially in solving their problems. Parents shouldn’t act as a dictator instead they need to understand and step in for the issues of their kids. Parents must show interest in all their issues instead of scolding them and leaving them alone to deal their problems. Parents must open communication with children. It’s better that your children discuss their issues with you instead of peers and searching on internet. (The writer is
