Court takes up Rs 50m defamation case

Lahore(Court Reporter ) A civil court heard a defamation case worth Rs 50 million regarding a disoute between the two wives of the late Syed Mubarak Ali Shah Gilani, the head of the Muslim of America organization, who allegedly played a role in the Daniel Pearl kidnapping and murder case. The court gave the lawyer of petitioner Syeda Zainab Gilani a final chance to deposit the court fee by December 23.The court remarked that if the court fee is not deposited, the case will be dismissed.

Lawyer Abdullah Malik took the position that the petitioner, on behalf of his first wife Naima Gilani, has filed a response to the claim of the defendant’s second wife Zainab Gilani and the current head of the Muslim of America organization. The lawyer further pointed out that the petitioner Zainab Gilani and her father Berry Adam have usurped the inherited properties worth billions of rupees and the administrative powers of the organization and have threatened the family of the defendant Naima Gilani with serious consequences so that Naima Gilani relinquishes her inheritance and organizational powers. The court is requested to dismiss the defamation claim as false and baseless.
