LAHORE: (Monday, April 23, 2018): Punjab Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani has said that Pakistan’s young generation is full of potential and their abilities must be utilized for the development of the country. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of All Pakistan Co-curricular Competitions being jointly organized by Punjab University, The Educationist, Punjab Higher Education Commission, National Accountability Bureau, Institute of Education and Research and Lahore College for Women’s University at New Campus here on Monday.

Punjab Higher Education Commission Director General Dr Shahid Soroya, PU Dean Faculty of Science Prof Dr Shahid Kamal, Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Chawla, Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan, Editor Inchief The Educationist Prof Dr Muhammad Shafique Jullandhry, renowned analyst Dr Mujahid Mansoori, Dr Rafaqat Ali Akbar, Incharge ICS Dr Noshina Saleem, Director General LESCO Tariq Wahid Khan, Editor The Educationist Shabbir Sarwar, Director Events AR Sajid, faculty members and a large number of students from universities, colleges and schools from all provinces were present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Syed Raza Ali Gilani said that we must remove the inferiority complex of giving preference to English speaking people. He said that if we follow the principals of Islam, the West would start following us. He said that Pakistan had provided us an opportunity to excel and now it is up to us to use our professional energies for development. He congratulated organizers of the event on providing a good opportunity to the students from all provinces for showing their skills in co-curricular activities.

Prof Dr Shafique Jullandhry said that such competitions must be welcomed in the prevailing situation of the country. He said that such opportunities would promote positive thinking among youth and polish their creative skills.

Dr Mujahid Ali Mansoori said that Pakistan was an emerging country and such events must be organized for providing a platform to children and the youth who were future of Pakistan.

The Educationist Editor Mr Shabbir Sarwar said that the co-curricular competitions were being organized from April 23 to April 27. He said that in 14 different competitions, 920 teams from Punjab, 15 from Sindh, 11 from KPK, 18 from Baluchistan and 5 from Kashmir were participating. He said that the competitions were being organized to promote national unity in Pakistan and provide an opportunity to students from all provinces to interact with each other.

Qiraat finals, naat, painting, drama finals and national songs competitions will start tomorrow at 8AM in different halls.
