AIOU’s ‘vulgar’ essay question became controversial

LAHORE: Students, parents and social media consumers are showing anger on a controversial question paper of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) asking the Matriculation students to write an essay on the “personality of elder sister.”

The question  no 5 of  Functional English-II, Spring Semester 2016, for class Matric, carrying 15 marks asking the students to explain personality of elder sister in details, following details were asked in that question  Age, Physique, Height, Looks, and Attitude etc.
People are expressing there anger and  frustration over the question on social media while terming it strange and unethical.
 

While talking to The Educationist Newspaper students and their parents said that such type of  “Extremely vulgar ‘questions are totally against the norms of society. Most of student said that they  cannot answered and attempt these types of silly questions.


aiou-questionSharing his views AIOU Regional Director Lahore Rasool Bakhsh Bahram said, “according to me its not a big matter and yes we asked to tell the Physique,  of sister and “whats wrong with that.”

He also said the administration of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has taken notice of an inappropriate question in its matriculation examination. An inquiry committee has been formed to probe the matter and fix the responsibility. The committee has been ordered to submit its report in one week. The action will be taken in the light of the inquiry report, he said.
