Lahore (Staff Report): The Educationist has good news for lovers of Dr. Mehdi Hasan. He is quite healthy now, ventilators are removed and with the grace of Almighty Allah he has recovered a lot. However, doctors have advised him not to walk.
Doctors said that heart muscles of Dr Mehdi were weak. He was admitted to Bahria Town International Hospital after he suffered heart attack on Wednesday February 14. His family said that Dr. Mehdi was in critical condition. He was taken to the hospital when he was feeling difficulty in breathing. Earlier, doctors said that his bypass will be held as soon as he gets stable and AB+ blood is required for surgery.
He is the current chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. Earlier he also served as Dean of School of Media and Communication at Beaconhouse National University, Lahore. He has also served as professor in University of Lahore. Dr. Mehdi retired from Punjab University Mass Communication Department in late 90’s and is now a visiting faculty member there.
He is among the most prominent communication experts with a specialization in political science. He was a Fulbright Scholar (1990) at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he conducted research on “Coverage of Third World Countries in the American Mass Media”. He has published research papers in the United States and Pakistan.
He has written a number of books. His book The Political History of Pakistan is a widely used source of reference by journalists and producers. Another book, “Journalism for All” is an excellent piece of work.
As a journalist, his activities he served in various media organizations.

He was sub-editor, reporter, and news bureau chief at Pakistan Press International (PPI) news agency between 1961-1967. He was elected office-bearer of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) five times during this period.
He also has been a news commentator and analyst for Pakistani television since 1964, and for Radio Pakistan since 1962, including for Voice of America, BBC News, Reuters, and Associated Press, and a contributor to all major newspapers in Pakistan and a columnist at English daily, The News International and at Urdu language newspaper Daily Waqt.
Dr. Mehdi Hasan is such an impressive person who leaves mark on everyone. He produced a lot of quality anchors, journalists, column writers and politicians. His students in universities and professional life are worried about his health. Special prayers are being offered for his recuperation. Whereas students and teachers are arranging blood AB+ required for his bypass surgery.
