Gujranwal BISE chairman says Punjab govt has improved education system

GUJRANWALA: Prof Muhammad Aslam Seikhu, chairman Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), has said that the education was most necessary think in today’s highly competitive world and education was the basic right of every child because no nation can progress without progress of education sector.
During an interview with The Educationist, he said Gujranwala BISE was working under Punjab Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.This board conducts Matric and Inter exams every year within its jurisdiction. Matric and Inter Exams mostly held in March and April respectively and the result of both exams is announced in July and August or in the start of September.
The main purpose of board of intermediate and secondary education department was conducting the examination of districts schools and colleges students. The purpose of the examinations in public institutions means to make a final review of the course and assessment of each student’s knowledge of the subject. From this method you would evaluate the teacher’s performance in the classroom.
Replying to a question regarding computerization of the system, Prof Aslam Seikhu, a former principal of Islamia college Gujranwala, said that computerized system is a more efficient, accurate, cost saving, time saving, safe and staff motivational system as compare to manual management system.
He said the government of Punjab has taken important steps in education field for the better future of our nation, especially in terms of educational institutions security. The government had given instruction to the BISE to cancel the registrations of a school or collegein case it do not meet security parameters issued by authorities. “We are not making registration of new schools and colleges until they meet the security parameters issued by the government.” To a query, Prof Aslam said that the grading system in results was better than the division system, because you will easily evaluate and assessment of a student’s whole year performance through A+,A,B,C,D,F grades.
The performance graph of the department was rapidly going up from the last few years when the governments launched the monitoring system in all the section of the department, he added.
Regarding co-curricular activities, he said these are very helpful in making youth and the nation strong and brilliant because these type of activities facilitate in the development of mind and personality, emotional development, social development, moral development and aesthetic development, he added.
