Islamabad: (March 26, 2018): The Higher Education Commission (HEC), in collaboration with the Higher Education Academy of Research and Training, Peshawar held an orientation session for Government Colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. As many as 80 teachers from the province participated in the training.
Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hassan Butt, Consultant, HEC was resource person of the session. He identified the issues faced by college teachers and college administrations which need attention of the federal and provincial governments. He revealed that HEC offers research opportunities to colleges including access to digital library, research journals and connectivity through Pakistan Education and Research Network (PERN). He said HEC initiatives are envisioned to pave the way for knowledge-based economy and technology-embedded higher education sector. He also shed light on the HEC Faculty Development Program and its importance for professional development of teaching staff of Pakistani higher education institutions.
Dr. Butt said colleges must play their role in improvement of curricula, adding that they should have access to new tools and modern teaching methodologies.
During the session, Mr. Fida Hussain, Director General, Learning Innovation Division, HEC gave an overview of the contributions of LI Division in professional development of university faculty. He stressed the need for maximum participation of teachers and faculty members in training sessions aimed at their professional growth.
