established a ‘facilities sharing model’ aimed at facilitating students and teachers of all educational institution of the city.

The Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) is close academia alliance between institutions of higher education and research in the city to facilitate innovation of knowledge creation in academia spheres without compromising the autonomy of participating institutions.

While talking to The Educationist Prof. Dr. Arun Kumar Grover, Vice Chancellor Panjab University Chandigarh, said that it was unique idea of its nature all over India. He said it was only for Chandigarh region and they were working for CRIKC.

“The idea of CRIKC was basically initiated by a member of parliament and he also funded 10 million Indian rupee grant for this purpose. This body will resolve issues of Chandigarh region’s affiliated institutions and there are more than 20 government and private institutions including schools, colleges and universities.”

He said the head of all institutions were part of the advisory committee, which was being chaired by the VC PU Chandigarh (himself) and three other committees were looking after the operational functions of CRIKC.

He said they were connecting all scientists and researchers of Chandigarh region through the website. He said shuttle service will be provided to access the libraries of all participating institutions. There will be common ID cards, joint conferences, laboratory facilities, Joint PhD program on common courses, mutual thesis supervision and initiation of industry-academia linkages.
