PU ICS two international conferences to begin on Tuesday

LAHORE: (Sunday- Feb 25, 2018) Institute of Communication Studies, Punjab University is organizing two conferences,  INTERNATIONAL UNESCO CONFERENCE ON SAFETY OF JOURNALISTS on Tuesday 27TH FEB 2018 and INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE WOMEN’S ROLE IN SOCIETY AND MEDIA  from 28 FEB TO 1ST MARCH 2018.
The conferences are being organised in collaboration with UNESCO, Higher Education Commission, OSLO AND AKERSHUS UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF APPLIED SCIENCES, AMCAP and Punjab University from 27th February to 1st march at Punjab University.
DELEGATES FROM NORTH AMERICA, NORWAY, MALAYSIA, INDONESIA, AFGHANISTAN, NEPAL AND BANGLADESH  WILL BE THE PART OF BOTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES. 
Senior media academicians, researchers, well known journalists and communication experts from Pakistan will also contribute in these conferences.
One-Day International Conference on “World Trends in Freedom of Expression and Media Development; A Pakistani Perspective on UNESCO Report” will be held on 27th February
1 day international Conference
Whereas the second International Conference on “Working Within and Against the Structures: Women, Media and Transnational Perspective” will be held from 28th February to 1st March 2018.
Two-day International Conference

Inaugural ceremony will be held at Al Razi Hall in PU. There will be 6 sessions of INTERNATIONAL UNESCO CONFERENCE ON SAFETY OF JOURNALISTS  in six different halls of ICS . These sessions are named:

  1. TRENDS IN MEDIA FREEDOM
  2. TRENDS IN MEDIA PLURALISM
  3. RESEARCH PAPER PRESENTATION 1
  4. TRENDS IN SAFETY OF JOURNALIST
  5. TRENDS IN MEDIA INDEPENDENCE
  6. RESEARCH PAPER PRESENTATION 2

Where as there are 5 main sessions and 4 parallel sessions of 2ND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE WOMEN’S ROLE IN SOCIETY AND MEDIA,  namely:

  1. WOMEN AND MARGINALIZATION (Seeing themselves by structures)
  2. WOMEN AS ACTORS WITHIN STRUCTURES (Seeing themselves as agents)
  3. SOCIAL MEDIA AND WOMEN-A MIXED BLESSING
  4. VARIETIES OF FEMINIST APPROACHES TO MEDIA REPRESENTATION
  5. WOMEN IN COOPERATION (Seeing themselves as agents with others:good practices)
Vice Chancellor University of the Punjab Prof. Dr. Zakria Zakar, Ambassadors of Norway and Sweden, In-charge Institute of Communication Studies Punjab University Dr. Noshina Saleem, Dr. Bushra Hameed ur Rahman, Senior Journalists Sohail Warraich, Tallat Hussain, Salman Ghani, Naseem Zahra, Mazhar Abbas, Tanveer Shahzad, Azam Chaudhary, Katrina Hussein, Humaira Awais, Nosheen Naqvi and others will also be participating in the conferences. Collectively there will be 19 sessions including opening and closing ceremonies, research papers will also be presented. Preparation are being made these days by ICS staff and students. Important topics will be discussed in the conferences that will be very beneficial. Hopefully the conferences will be successful.
