NCA welcomes 200 Canadian Sikh pilgrims

LAHORE (Tuesday – November 12, 2024): To celebrate the 555th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Sikh pilgrims are coming from around the world and a special ceremony held Monday night at the National College of Arts (NCA) here to honour 200 Canadian yatrees.

Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora, NCA Vice Chancellor Prof Murtaza Jafari and Dean Prof Raja Eram Zia welcomed the pilgrims.

Speaking on this occasion, the minister remarked that Pakistan was a second home for the Sikh community as it is home to the gurdwaras of Baba Guru Nanak and other prominent Sikh gurus. He said, every year, Pakistan set an example of excellent hospitality and assured this year, top-notch arrangements have been made for accommodation, security and other facilities.

The minister underscored the importance of interfaith harmony and cultural unity

The vice chancellor expressed pride in the longstanding relationship between the Sikh community and NCA while noting that the boundaries of art were limitless and played a vital role in promoting peace and love.

Earlier, a documentary showcased the college’s rich heritage, followed by another archival documentary that highlighted the contributions of Sikh students during the Mayo School of Arts era.
