With the help of information regarding different areas of one’s personality like aptitude, likeness, strength, competence, socializing skills, adjustability, introversion and IQ level, pupils travel through the route of personality development. In Pakistan, majority of students are in deficiency of aptitude, decision making, confidence, intelligence but they all demand studying science.

In our society, students usually pay attention towards their career after their O-Level or Matriculation and in spite of moving through the process of personality assessment they make career decisions on the basis of mob psychology such as the influence of parents and relatives, scope in market, financial benefits, fee of the course, etc. Because of decision making on such unrealistic grounds many brilliant students waste a year of their time and somehow after that many of them start thinking to rediscover their true interest.

In Pakistan, majority of students are in deficiency of aptitude, decision making, confidence, intelligence but they all demand studying science.

With 90 percent marks in science subjects like physics, mathematics and biology in metric, our students encounter with a dilemma of either choosing engineering or medical fields at FSc level. Even after Intermediate with biology students think they have only option of MBBS now and have no idea of other valuable programs like BDS, DPT, Pharm-D, DVM, DND, Biological Sciences and Allied Health Sciences.

Discovering thyself with clear awareness regarding one’s skills and personality never made students confused in future for finding a better and suitable job for themselves. In our schools such counseling departments should be built where professional counselors can make students’ unique profiles of their strengths and weaknesses and several personality tests and psychological inventories be available for pupils.

Trend of consulting trained psychologist or qualified career counselor for personality assessment before deciding a career path should be encouraged both at public and private schools.
