RULES & REGULATIONS of The Educationist 3rd ALL PAKISTAN CO-CURRICULAR COMPETITIONS – 2019

General Rules

1. Decision of judges will be FINAL and NOT challenge-able.
2. Fees once submitted will not be refundable.
3. Contestants will have to follow the timelines given for each competition.
4. All competitions will be held on spot.
5. Fake information may lead to immediate disqualification.
6. Unethical & unlawful content may also lead to immediate disqualification and action will be taken as per law of the land.
7. Travel and food will entirely be the responsibility of contestants / participating institutions.

8. Limited accommodation will be available on first come first serve basis as per previous years practice in PU Hostels. Also, the organizers may arrange accommodation on the request and expense of the participants.

1. Qiraat

Round 1

Participants can recite any verses from Holy Quran.

Repetition is not allowed.

Duration is 3 minutes

Decision of judges will be final.

Round 2

Finalist of the Round 1 will be given Ayaat written on slips by the respected judges, randomly, on the spot before recitation.

Repetition is not allowed.

Decision of judges will be final and Un-challengeable.

2. Naat

Language is Urdu

Time allowed 3 minutes

Naat must not be on the tune of some song

فیصلہ ادائیگی ، آواز، انتخابِ کلام اور عمومی تاثر پر ہو گا

3. National Song

Language is Urdu

Time allowed 3 minutes

Decision of judges will be final and Unchallengeable.

4. Declamation (Urdu/Eng/Punjabi)

Duration:3-4 Minutes

Rules and Regulations for Declamation

1- The Contest will comprise of two rounds. All speakers will participate in the first round. However, five best speakers from Urdu, Punjabi and English categories will qualify for the final round.
Topics for qualifiers will remain same whereas they will deliver different speech in final round.

2- Each participating institution may submit multiple entries.  However, individual speakers can also participate.

3- A speaker will speak for a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 minutes.

4- Marks will be deducted for failing to observe the stipulated time limit.

5- Paper reading is not allowed. Those who do so will be disqualified.

6- Speakers should refrain from using excessive Urdu in their English, Punjabi speeches and vice versa.

7- A speaker may agree or disagree with the topic. The subject matter of the speech based on the logical interpretation of the topic will carry maximum credit in terms of marks. Mere rhetorical content, which is devoid of relevance with the topic and lacks novelty of ideas, will be strongly discouraged.

8- A speaker making offensive remarks about any important personage or passing controversial religious, political or sectarian remarks shall be immediately disqualified. Using words/sentences with any indecent connotation and passing derogatory remarks against the chair will lead to instant disqualification of the speaker. In such an event, the speaker may be asked to step down from the podium during the speech.

9- The speakers will be judged on the content of their speeches, their proficiency in the respective language and the response of the audience.

10- The decision of the judges will be final.

5. Poetry Topics

Poetry (English) “Education”

Rules and Regulations for Poetry:

1-  Each participating institution may submit multiple entries.  However, individual poet can also participate.

2- The Contest will comprise of two rounds. All Participants will participate in the first round. However, Five best poets from Urdu, Punjabi and English, categories will qualify for the final round.

3- The Pieces of poetry must be Contestants’ own original work.

4- Plagiarism will not be tolerated and will lead to immediate disqualification.

5- The duration of the poem should be of minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 3 minutes.

6- Marks will be deducted for failing to observe the stipulated time limit.

7- Two hard copies of the poetry pieces must be handed in before the competition.

8- The Participant will be judged on the Theme, Structure, Tone, Rhythm, Language, Imagery and the response of the audience.

9- The three best poets of the contest, from Urdu, English and Punjabi will be awarded prizes.

10- The decision of the judges will be final.

6. Drama/Theater 

Rules and Regulations for the Drama

Topic: Say No to corruption

Duration: 30 Minutes

Venue: To be decided

  1. Drama performance should be within 20 to 30 minutes. If play exceeds 30 minutes, the play will be stopped by the management.
  2. Drama should not contain anti-Pakistan, anti-religious, anti-two nation theory and sectarianism content, otherwise, the team will immediately be disqualified from the competition.
  3. General lights (front lights, Par-can Lights, Spot light) and sound system will be provided by the management. The participants will operate it according to their wish/need.
  4. The play containing vulgar or unethical content will lead to immediate disqualification from the event.
  5. Management will provide only 2 chairs and 1 table as a prop. Participant’s props are not the responsibility of management.
  6. The decision of the judges will be final and unchallengeable.
  7. If any team misbehaves during the event, they will be disqualified immediately.
  8. Teams reporting time is 8:30 am sharp.
  9. We will announce the performances according to given time slot. If any team fails to reach for performance in their given time slot they will not be given any other time slot.
  10. We’re there to help you people in better performance for which we have arranged best suitable halls for drama, so display your best performances. Please be on time so that we can start event at scheduled time.
  11. Every team should reach at given venue at 8:30 am sharp.

7. Paintings

Topics: Pakistan Landscape

Rules and Regulations for Painting

  1. Contestants will bring A3 size (12×18) paper/sheet for water colours / pencil colours or oil paints.
  2. Candidates must bring their own pencil colours/water colours, sheets, board, etc. with them.
  3. Maximum time allowed will be 2 hours.
  4. Paintings displaying other than given theme (Pakistan Landscape) will not be considered.
  5. Judges decision will be final

8. Essay Writing

Topics:

Essay writing (English): National Independence
Essay writing (Urdu): قومی آزادی
Essay writing (Punjabi) قومی ایکتا

Rules and Regulations for Essay

1- Each participating institution may submit multiple entries. Individual writers can also participate.

2- Sheets will be provided to participants for writing. Participants need to carry their pen or any other stationary.

3- Participants need to ensure that they use good diction with original and interesting ideas.

4- They must also ensure the content of essay should be versed with the topic and should be logically organized, Include a purposeful conclusion & written in clear words.

5- Quotations should also be acknowledged in the reference.

6- The decision of the judges will be final.

7. Essay topic will be slightly changed on the spot but theme will remain the same. means topic will relate to the given main theme but title will be changed slightly to best judge the writers abilities.

9. Photography

Topic: Educational Problems of Pakistan

1. Submit best quality photographs.

2. Each participant may submit upto THREE PHOTOS. Marking will be based on average score.
3. Winning photos from other contests may not be submitted. In this regard contestant will submit a certificate from head of his/her school/college/university
4. Photo size: 12×16 inch
We do not measure mat boards, only the edges of the VISIBLE image.
5. Each photo must be mounted.

6. Photos may also be matted.
7. Pictures would be in wooden frames (black colour) measuring all sides ONE INCH.
8. No identification of the participant is allowed on the front of the photo.

10. Cartoon

Topic: Educational Problems of Pakistan

Time: 30 Minutes

Sketch education related cartoons on spot. Papers will be provided. Rest of the material will be the responsibility of participants.

11. Video

Topic: Educational Problems of Pakistan

Video duration should be 3-4 minutes. Language and other content must be ethical and in accordance to Article 19, Constitution of Pakistan, which deals with the freedom of speech and expression.

Judges will have the right to disqualify any video in case of violation of the rules and regulations.  Judges decision will be final.
