LAHORE (October 2, 2017): A seminar on career counseling and placement held at Punjab University Institute of Communication Studies’ Faiz Ahmad Faiz Conference Hall provided guidance to the students.
The chief guest was Director PU Career Counseling Dr. Abdul Qayum Chaudhry, while other guests included senior journalist Ashraf Sohail, PU ICS Assistant Professor Dr. Waqar Malik and former lecturer ICS Khalid Rashid.
Speaking on this occasion PU Director Career Counseling Dr. Abdul Qayum said that two institutes in world were important because they belong to life, one is to save the life and other is make the life i.e. Institute of Education and Research and Institute of Medical Health.
Dr. Abdul Qayum Ch. said: “ I was the first person who established Career Counsel Department in Pakistan. Career doesn’t mean job, it means how to spend life. When the interest of anyone become profession so he will be successful.
PU ICS Assistant Professor Dr. Waqar Malik said that in Pakistan a student can’t decide his future related to education or marriage, the parents decide his or her future. No one is a well-wisher than the parents but sometime parents took wrong decisions. He also added that if you don’t have the journalistic germs you will not be a good journalist, it’s up to you that whatever you want to be. I hope you will judge yourself very well.
Mr. Khalid Rashid said, “when you will come to practical life you will have to choose your best, you need to work hard, struggle hard to make a better place in society.”
Senior Journalist Ashraf Sohail said that Mass communication department was playing a leading role in the society. “You need passion and hardworking to achieve your goals,” he urged the students.
