UCP first, UMT second and GCU third in rowing

4th Day – National Sports Competitions 2017

LAHORE: (Thursday, December 14, 2017) The competitions of hockey, cricket, football, swimming and rowing held on the fourth day of National Sports Competitions 2017 being organized jointly by HEC, PU and The Education here in Punjab University.

PU secured first position in hockey in its final with UMT by 3-1 goals, UMT remained second and Unique Group got third position.

Cricket under-17 contest was won by Govt Boys High School No 2 Kot Radha Kishan after tough competition with Govt High School Kot Sardar Muhammad.

Cricket (university category) first semi-final was played between University of Malakand and Govt Islamiya College Kasur while BNU and PU were in the second semi-final. The final match will be played between PU and University of Malakand tomorrow (Friday).

In Kabbadi (university category) semi final was contested between Akhwan Science College Barki and Islamia College Kasur in a thrilling fight while in final PU easily defeated Akhwan Science College Barki.

In swimming university category PU won first slot while NUST Islamabad secured second position. PU’s Samiullah was declared the best swimmer.

In swimming (schools category) Wapda Boys High School’s Muhammad Abubakar won in freestyle and backstroke while Wapda School’s Faisal Ali secured second position.

In rowing competitions overall UCP secured first position while UMT remained second and third slot was claimed by GCU. UCP won 150 points, UMT 126 and GCU 42 points. UMT won all 500 hundred meter competitions held in canal waters.  Campus Bridge and 500-meter competition was claimed by UCP’s Imran Aslam while PU’s Muhammad Azam remained on second position.

The final matches of cricket, football and athletics will be held tomorrow Friday in the morning while award distribution ceremony will be held at PU Sports Gymnasium at 3:00 pm.
